Do not pout #5

Ne faites pas la moue

Critical Bodies and Political Bodies

Bringing political bodies into play within choreographic art. In what ways do dancing bodies escape norms and codes? How do they connect with philosophical positions that privilege critical vigilance? How can dance foster a bodily presence that disrupts expectations and imposed identities?

The choreographic challenge will be to leave the body a certain freedom, a share of the unknown. And here, the word “unknown” plays a central role. A formidable wager. Perhaps it will not be possible. We do not yet know. That is precisely our gamble…

Every episode addresses this question, but this final one is devoted to that impossible — and eminently philosophical — attempt to reconcile intentions with actualizations. What is the body in all this? In all of this? Here, elsewhere? These deaths, across so many places in the world, and these living beings — doing what, activating what, creating what artistically?

How do we dance? How do I dance?

What place does art hold in our society? Today, this question seems crucial. This final episode of the series, still in a spirit of inquiry, seeks to question what each person can activate with their body and their synapses, with that strange force that makes us dance, think, feel enthusiasm and lucidity, delirium and vigilance.

Consciously. Through dancing.

With little and with much…

Less is more?
